TNMOC:

Yesterday I went to The National Museum of Computing at Bletchley Park for my Dad to donate a computer he invented in the 80's. He did a quick interview and we got free passes to explore the museum and pretend like we were in a sci-fi novel - sifting through computer innards and getting hypnotised by the hum of a thousand processors. I recommend a trip, if only to boggle at the amazing size and complexity of it all, and to become inspired by the spirit of invention.

  2. (Found this post while Googling for NMOC stuff.)

Your dad designed the Lynx? Fantastic! I actually remember reading about that computer in Your Computer when it was new, and rather hankering after one. I don't suppose he was the guy who turned up at Bletchley in a helicopter the other day? They were being very mysterious about that for some reason.

  3. Ha ha no unfortunately! If you still have an urge to play with a Lynx, head over there in a few months, they're trying to fix one up so the public can try it out. I've forwarded your comments to my Dad, he's pretty chuffed people still remember it, thank you !

  4. You're welcome! The Lynx is a little neglected in the retrocomputing world, which is rather a shame. I'm glad to hear they're trying to get one going for public use, though; I'd be very interested to try one out after all these years. Emulators are never quite the same.
