Fear of butterflies:

So me and Rach were thinking, let's meet some like-minded people, let's set up a collective for artists, illustrators, designers and the like. Such was Fear of Butterflies born. A geranium of ideas.

End result:

These 3D letters will be used for self-promotion in the future

Making a name for myself:

This is me cutting out some cardboard letters to make into my name.

Artists' Statement:

“A cartographer’s skill lies in translating the world into an accurate 2-dimensional drawing. When we view a map we immediately assume the drawing corresponds to a physical landscape. My work plays on the this and examines how a line drawn on a piece of paper can signify an island, cliff or mountain. Accuracy of information is fundamental in reading a map, but what happens when the information never existed until the map was drawn? A map is a drawing but my drawings are also maps.”

Published in the trace catalogue.

Some of my work:

'Island Series' - watercolours of shapes coloured to appear as islands:

'Map Series' - pencil drawings of map shapes derived from drip paintings:

'Contour Series' - plaster forms that again examine the relationship with land mass and shape

'Mind Map' - a large piece, ink on canvas.

These are a few of the things I exhibited in trace.
